Cost Updates
The Cost Updates List provides a historical record of all manual and system-driven adjustments made to the standard or average cost of inventory items. This dashboard allows the user to audit why an item's value changed, ensuring transparency in inventory valuation and profit margin calculations. Keeping track of these updates is vital for accurate financial reporting and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) analysis. To access this list, navigate to Inventory > Click the "Cost Updates" Tab.

- Reference (#): The unique identification number for the cost update entry. Clicking the blue link (e.g., 004/2026) opens the Detailed View.
- Source Ref: A detailed description of the change, including the old cost, the new cost, the item involved, and any relevant quantity multipliers (e.g., Cost was 1090 changed to -600 for item 'alpha99').
- Date: The date and time the cost modification was applied to the system.
- Amount: The total financial variance or adjusted value resulting from the update.
Data Insights
The Source Ref column provides critical logic for the change. It may show simple price overrides or complex updates where a new cost is multiplied by the current Quantity on Hand to recalculate the total inventory asset value. This ensures that the user can verify the mathematical accuracy of the system's valuation.
