Data Insights

Cost changes move two numbers at once: the value of stock you hold, and the margin on everything sold from it afterwards. A large unexplained change here is usually a purchase entered at the wrong price — worth tracing back to the goods receipt.

Costs change from purchases at a different price, manual updates, and recalculation where Use Calculated Avg Cost is enabled in System Preferences.
