Service Plus Settings
Service Plus has a small settings surface, and each part of it decides something the app cannot guess: how long things are under warranty, where repair parts come out of, and what a labour charge is booked as. Set all three before taking the first request.
Warranty Terms
The terms that decide whether a repair is free.
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Applies To | An item, an item category, or everything as the company default. |
| Months | How long cover lasts from the purchase date. 0 means no warranty. |
The most specific rule wins: an item's own term beats its category's, which beats the company default. See Warranty.
Parts location
Where repair parts are issued from. Left unset, the user's own location is used — which is usually right for a single-site business and usually wrong for a business with a separate service store.
Charge item
The item a labour charge is billed as on the service invoice. Labour is not stock, so it needs a service item to be invoiced under; this setting says which.
Who can change them
Changing settings needs Service Status Updates and Settings permission. Without it the pages are visible but the save is refused with a message saying so.
The commonest setup mistake is leaving warranty terms empty. Every request then reads No warranty, every repair defaults to chargeable, and the service desk quietly bills customers for repairs that should have been free.
