New Tasks

New Tasks

A Task is a unit of work inside a larger effort. Projects are delivered through milestones and tasks are what make up those milestones — and because a task can be billable, they are how progress-based invoicing knows what to charge for.

Where to find it

Go to CRM > New > Task.

What a task can attach to

Tasks link to projects, customers, leads and suppliers. For projects the link matters most, because it ties the work to billing as well as to progress.

Steps to Create a New Task

  1. Open CRM > New > Task.
  2. Name the task and choose what it relates to.
  3. Assign it to a person and set a deadline.
  4. Set the priority and, where relevant, mark it billable.
  5. Describe the work, then save.

Billable and non-billable

The billable flag decides whether a task can be picked up by a Project Invoice. Internal work — planning, rework, admin — should be non-billable, so it counts toward cost and effort without reaching the customer's bill.

Summary

Tasks do two jobs at once: they track who is doing what by when, and they carry the billable work that progress-based invoicing draws on. Keeping them accurate is what makes both project reporting and project billing trustworthy.
