Roles And Permissions

Roles And Permissions

Roles and Permissions define access once per job function instead of per person. You build a role from the modules that job needs, then assign it to users — so a new starter inherits the right access immediately and changes apply to everyone doing that job.

Where to find it

Go to Setup > Users & Void > Roles & Permissions, then Add New.

Key Concepts

ConceptMeaning
RolesA named set of permissions matching a job function — Sales Clerk, Storekeeper, Accountant.
ModulesThe functional areas access is granted over. Only modules in your subscription pack appear.
All FeaturesA shortcut granting every module at once, instead of ticking each one.

Building a role

  1. Give the role a name that describes the job, not the person.
  2. Tick the modules that job needs. Leave the rest — anything unticked is hidden from the user entirely.
  3. Save, then assign the role when creating or editing a user.
Grant the minimum the job requires. Void, edit and setup permissions deserve particular thought — they are the ones that let somebody undo work rather than do it.

How roles interact with user roles

Roles here control module access. They apply to users on the User role only — Admin and Super Admin are not restricted by them, as described in Users and Their Permissions.
