Estimates Inquiry

Estimates Inquiry

The Estimates list tracks every cost projection prepared for a customer. Estimates are figures built from judgement and history rather than exact values, and this list is where they are managed until they firm up into an order or lapse.

Overview

An estimate helps set expectations when precise pricing is not yet possible. Keeping them in one place means a customer's earlier figures can be found before a new one is quoted.

Tips

  • Check for an existing estimate before quoting the same customer again — two different figures from two people is a hard conversation.
  • Convert accepted estimates into a sales order rather than re-keying them.
  • Let expired estimates lapse honestly. A list of stale figures is worse than no list.
