Custom fields for the System

Custom fields for the System

Custom Fields add inputs the standard forms do not have — a vehicle number, a project code, a claim reference. You create them on the form where they are needed; this page is where you review and remove them afterwards.

Where to find it

Go to Setup > Display > Custom Fields. To add one, use the Add Field option on the transaction form itself, which appears once Show Add Custom Field on Forms is enabled in System Preferences.

Where fields can go

PositionTypical use
Form headerSomething that applies to the whole document — a contract reference, an approver.
Line itemsSomething that varies per line — a serial number, a bin location.
FooterClosing information — a signature name, a delivery instruction.

Field types

Text box, dropdown, radio button, check box, date picker and amount box.

A field that already holds values on saved transactions cannot be removed. Try a new field on a small number of transactions before rolling it out — once real data is in it, you are keeping it.
