Bank Statement Import
The Bank Statement import loads statement lines for reconciliation. Every bank exports in its own layout, so the practical approach is to export your statement, reshape it to match the sample, and import that.
Where to find it
Go to Setup > Import Export > Bank Statements.
Bank Import Pre Settings
A bank template must be selected before uploading — it tells the importer how to read your file. Templates exist for common banks, and more are added over time. Where yours is not listed, use the Default Bank statement template, take its sample, and reshape your export to match.
Format Data
| Column group | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Date | The transaction date on the statement. |
| Description / narrative | The bank's text for the line, which is what you match against. |
| Amount | The value, with money in and money out distinguished. |
| Reference | The bank's own reference, where provided. |
Export as Excel wherever your bank allows it. PDF statements have to be transcribed, which is slow and introduces errors that only surface at reconciliation.
Imported Bank Inquiry
After importing, review the loaded lines in the bank inquiry screen before reconciling. It shows what was read from the file, so a mis-mapped column is caught before it reaches your accounts.
Errors and exports
If rows fail, the system returns your file with a Memo column added, naming the problem on each bad row — fix those rows and upload again. Every module supports export as well as import, so you can pull current data out in the same format.
The rules common to all imports — never rename headers, dates in Y/m/d, codes must already exist, test a few rows first — are set out in Importing Your Data.
