The Production Board
The Board is the shop floor view of manufacturing. Work orders are laid out by what state they are in, with the action each one needs as a button on the card. It is built for the person running production, who needs to see what is waiting and act on it rather than open one order at a time.
The columns
| Column | Contains |
|---|---|
| Draft | Orders not yet released. |
| Awaiting Approval | Waiting for a decision. |
| In Progress | Being made. |
| Job worker | Out with a subcontractor. |
| Partly Received | Some of it has come back. |
| Closed (30 days) | Recently finished, so a mistake is still findable. |
The actions
| Action | Does |
|---|---|
| Release | Puts a draft order into production. |
| Produce | Records a production run. |
| Send Materials | Raises a job work challan to a subcontractor. |
| Receive | Takes back what a job worker returns. |
| Close | Closes the order and settles its cost. |
Only the actions an order can take now are offered, so the board never presents a button that would be refused.
Filters
| Filter | Narrows to |
|---|---|
| Work Centre | One centre's work, or all. |
| Team | One team's work, or all. |
| Job Worker | One subcontractor. |
All / none selects or clears everything in a column. An empty column says Nothing here.
Material with the job worker
The board shows Material With Job Worker alongside the orders that are out, so the question "what have they got of ours" is answered in the same place as "what are they doing". See Job Work.
The board is a working screen, not a report. It shows what needs doing now — the Work Orders list is where to go for history, filtering and anything older than the last thirty days of closures.
