New Leads

New Leads

A Lead is a person or organisation that has shown interest in what you sell, usually by sharing contact details. Leads sit before customers in the pipeline — you nurture them, qualify them, and convert the ones that turn into business.

Where to find it

Go to CRM > New > Leads. The form opens as a popup.

Basic Details

FieldDescription
SalutationMr, Ms, Dr and so on.
First Name / Last NameThe contact's name.
Company NameThe organisation they represent.
Email / PhoneHow to reach them. At least one is what makes a lead actionable.
TitleTheir role, which tells you whether you are speaking to a decision maker.
CountryWhere they are based.

Classification

FieldWhy it matters
SourceWhere the lead came from — web form, referral, campaign. This is what campaign reporting groups by. See Lead Source.
StatusWhere the lead sits in your funnel.
Assigned ToWho owns it. An unassigned lead is nobody's job.
IndustryTheir sector, used for segmentation and reporting.
Record the Source honestly on every lead. It is the only way to tell which marketing actually produces business, and a blank source makes the whole funnel report guesswork.

What happens next

  • Qualify the lead and raise an Opportunity where it looks real.
  • Send a Proposal — proposals can go to leads as well as customers.
  • Convert the lead into a Customer when they buy.
