GL Account Groups
GL Account Groups sit between classes and accounts. A group gathers related accounts — current assets, fixed assets, direct costs — and determines how they are subtotalled on the balance sheet and profit and loss.
Where to find it
Go to Financial Statement > General Ledger > Settings > GL Account Groups.
Filter by Account Class and click Search to narrow the list.
Adding a New GL Account Group
Click Add New to open the popup.

| ID | Yes | The unique identifier for the group. |
| Name | Yes | The group name shown on financial statements. |
| Account Class | Yes | The class it belongs to — assets, liabilities, income or expenses. |
| Parent Group | No | Where groups nest, the group above this one. |
Cash Flow Section
Each group carries a Cash Flow Section, which decides where its movement appears on the Statement of Cash Flows.
| Section | Means |
|---|---|
| Automatic | Follow the parent group; failing that, the group's name is used to decide. |
| Operating: working capital | Debtors, creditors and stock — movements that use or release cash from trading. |
| Operating: non-cash adjustment | Depreciation and anything else that hits profit without moving cash. |
| Investing | Fixed assets and investments. |
| Financing | Loans, capital and drawings. |
| Cash and cash equivalents | The accounts the statement reconciles to. |
Automatic suits most groups. When a section on the cash flow statement looks wrong, the cause is nearly always a group sitting in the wrong section here — and correcting it fixes every period at once, including ones already closed, because the statement is derived rather than stored.
Managing groups
| Action | What it does |

| Add New | Create a group. |
| Edit | Rename a group or move it to a different class. |
| Delete | Remove a group that holds no accounts. |
Moving a group to a different class moves every account inside it in the reports. It is not a cosmetic change — check what the group contains before reclassifying it.
