GL Account Groups

GL Account Groups

GL Account Groups sit between classes and accounts. A group gathers related accounts — current assets, fixed assets, direct costs — and determines how they are subtotalled on the balance sheet and profit and loss.

Where to find it

Go to Financial Statement > General Ledger > Settings > GL Account Groups.

Filter by Account Class and click Search to narrow the list.

Adding a New GL Account Group

Click Add New to open the popup.

Account ClassYesThe class it belongs to — assets, liabilities, income or expenses.
Parent GroupNoWhere groups nest, the group above this one.

Managing groups

ActionWhat it does
Add NewCreate a group.
EditRename a group or move it to a different class.
DeleteRemove a group that holds no accounts.
Moving a group to a different class moves every account inside it in the reports. It is not a cosmetic change — check what the group contains before reclassifying it.
