Public Holidays

Public Holidays

Public Holidays record the non-working days for a fiscal year and state. They affect work schedules, attendance and payroll — a holiday is not an absence, and recording them properly is what stops staff being docked for days they were never expected to work.

Where to find it

Go to HRM > Settings > Gazetted Holidays.

Field reference

FieldRequiredDescription
Fiscal YearYesThe year the holiday falls in.
StateYesWhere it applies. Public holidays commonly differ by state.
DateYesThe holiday date.
DescriptionYesWhat the holiday is.
Load the year's holidays before the year starts. A holiday added after payroll has run for that month does not retroactively correct the pay — the day was already treated as absence.

Why state matters

Holidays are declared per state in many countries, so a company with staff in several states does not share one calendar. Recording the state is what lets each office follow its own.
