Sales Types
Sales Types are used to set up different price levels for your products. This is helpful if you want to charge different prices for a regular shop customer (Retail), a bulk buyer (Wholesale), or an online shopper (e-Commerce). You can also decide if the prices already include tax or if tax should be added at the end.
How to Access
To find these settings, go to the Sales tab -> click the Settings in the top right corner-> and pick Sales Types from the list. Here, you can see all your current price levels and add new ones.
Sales Types List View
This list shows how your different price levels are calculated:
- Type Name: The name of the price level, such as "Retail" or "Wholesale".
- Factor: This is a simple multiplier used to change the price. A "Base" factor is your standard price. A factor like 0.7000 means the customer gets a 30% discount automatically.
- Tax Incl: Shows "Yes" if the price already has tax inside it, or "No" if tax is added later.
- Actions: Click the Pencil to change a price level or the Trash Can to delete one.
- Inactive Management: By ticking the Show also Inactive box at the bottom of the list, the user can view every sales type, including those that have been deactivated. From here, the user can use the red Inactive toggle to switch a type between Active (No) and Inactive (Yes). This allows the user to disable price levels no longer in use.
Adding a New Sales Type
When you click + Add New, a small window opens with these options:
- Sales Type Name: Give your new price level a name.
- Calculation factor: Enter a number to automatically adjust the price. For example, 1.0 is the normal price, but you can use a higher number to increase it or a lower number to decrease it.
- Tax included: Tick this box if you want the price to include GST.
- Set Default/Base Sales Type: Tick this to make this price level the standard choice for new customers.
e-Commerce Pricing
Selling online is different from selling in a physical shop. Most websites show a special "online price." By creating a separate e-Commerce Sales Type, you can give your online customers a different price than your walk-in customers without having to change every item manually.
Base Sales Type
The Base Sales Type is the "main" price that the system uses to calculate everything else:
- Customer Choice: Every customer is linked to a Sales Type. This ensures they always see the correct price (Retail or Wholesale) when you bill them.
- Automatic Math: The system uses the "Factor" to automatically do the math when switching between price levels.
- Setup: You can choose your main price level in Setup -> Company Setup ->Base for auto price calculations.
