Sales Types
Sales Types set up different price levels for your products, so a walk-in shop customer, a bulk buyer and an online shopper can each be charged appropriately. A sales type also decides whether the prices you enter already include tax or have tax added at the end.
How to Access
Go to the Sales tab, click Settings in the top right corner, and pick Sales Types from the list.

| Column | Description |

| Type Name | The name of the price level, such as Retail or Wholesale. |
| Factor | A multiplier applied to the base price. 1.0 is the standard price; 0.7000 gives a 30% discount automatically. |
| Tax Incl | Yes if the price already has tax inside it, No if tax is added at the end. |
| Inactive | A toggle switching the type between Active (No) and Inactive (Yes). |
| Actions | The pencil icon edits a price level; the trash can deletes it. |
Tick Show also Inactive at the bottom of the list to see deactivated types, which lets you disable a price level that is no longer used without losing the transactions that referenced it.
Adding a New Sales Type

| Sales Type Name | Yes | The name of the price level. Must be unique — two sales types cannot share a name. |
| Calculation factor | No | The multiplier applied to the base price. Use 1.0 for the normal price, a higher number to mark up, a lower number to discount. |
| Tax included | No | Tick if prices at this level already include tax. This is what changes the line item column heading between Price After Tax and Price Before Tax on every sales document. |
| Set Default / Base Sales Type | No | Makes this the standard choice for new customers. |
The Tax included setting has the widest reach of anything on this page. It decides how every price on every quotation, order, delivery and invoice using this sales type is interpreted. Getting it wrong makes totals differ from what the customer was quoted.
Base Sales Type
The Base Sales Type is the main price the system calculates everything else from.
- Customer choice — every customer is linked to a sales type, so they always see the correct price when billed.
- Automatic math — the system uses the Factor to convert between price levels, so you maintain one set of prices rather than several.
- Setup — choose your main price level under Setup > Company Setup > Base for auto price calculations.
e-Commerce Pricing
Selling online is not the same as selling in a shop, and most websites show a distinct online price. Creating a separate e-Commerce sales type gives your online customers their own price level without editing every item by hand.
Where this is used
- As the Price List / Sales Type field on quotations, orders, deliveries and invoices.
- On the customer record, setting the default price level for that customer.
- In item pricing, where a price can be held per sales type.
A sales type already used on transactions or assigned to customers cannot be deleted. Set it inactive instead.
