Contributions
Contributions records the money members pay in — monthly premiums, joining fees and Motshelo contributions. Every receipt is recorded against a member and a period, so arrears are a fact on the record rather than a calculation someone does by hand.
Where to find it
Go to BurialPro > Contributions.
Contribution kinds
| Kind | What it is |
|---|---|
| Monthly | The regular premium keeping cover in force. |
| Joining Fee | Charged once at joining, receipted on supervisor approval. |
| Motshelo | The society's savings contribution. |
Recording a receipt
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Member | Yes | Who is paying. |
| Contribution Kind | Yes | One must be chosen. |
| Contribution Date | Yes | Must be a valid date. |
| Period (YYYY-MM) | Yes | Which month the payment covers — not necessarily the month it was received. |
| Contribution Amount | Yes | Must be positive. |
| Payment Method | Yes | Cash, card, Orange Money, Post Office and so on. |
| Pay Point | No | Where it was paid. |
| Bank Account | Yes | Where the money lands. |
Record the period, not just the date. A member paying three months late in one visit needs those three periods marked paid — a single receipt dated today leaves them still showing two months in arrears.
Arrears
| Figure | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Months Due | How many periods are unpaid. |
| Balance Due | What is owed. |
| Last Paid | The most recent contribution. |
| in advance / in arrears | Whether the member is ahead or behind. |
Receipts
Each contribution produces a receipt — a Contribution Receipt or a Joining Fee Receipt — showing the amount received and the balance still owed.
