New Opportunity

New Opportunity

An Opportunity is a qualified prospect with a real chance of becoming a customer — one where you can point to a need your product meets and estimate what the business is worth. It is the stage where a conversation becomes a forecastable number.

Where to find it

Go to CRM > New > Opportunity.

Field reference

FieldDescription
Customer or LeadWho the opportunity is with. It can attach to either.
Opportunity NameWhat the deal is.
Estimated ValueThe volume of business expected. This is what pipeline totals are built from.
StageWhere it sits in the funnel.
Expected Close DateWhen you expect to win or lose it. Drives forecasting.
ProbabilityHow likely it is to close, used to weight the forecast.
Assigned ToWho owns the deal.
SourceWhere it originated.
An opportunity should be a good fit for what you actually sell. Recording deals you cannot service inflates the pipeline and makes the forecast worse rather than better — qualifying out is as valuable as qualifying in.
