Email Logs and Sent History
The Email Log records every message the system tried to send, with the result. Where a customer says an invoice never arrived, this is the first place to look — it shows whether the message left, and if it failed, the error the mail server returned.
Where to find it
Go to Setup > E-Mail & SMTP > Email Log.
What is recorded
| Recorded | Use |
|---|---|
| Outgoing messages | What was sent, to whom, and when. |
| Delivery status | Whether the message reached the mail server or failed. |
| SMTP error | The exact error where sending failed — the detail your provider will ask for. |
A log entry marked sent means your mail server accepted it, not that the customer read it. If the log is clean and the customer still has nothing, the message is most likely in their spam folder — check the SPF and DKIM guidance in SMTP Setup.
Clearing the log
A Clear button empties the log when it grows unwieldy. Clearing removes the delivery history, so resolve any outstanding queries first.
