Lead Source

Lead Source

Lead Sources record where each lead came from — a web form, a referral, an exhibition, a campaign. It is the single field that lets you answer which marketing produces business, and without it the funnel report is guesswork.

Where to find it

Go to CRM > Settings > Lead Source.

Sources worth defining

SourceCovers
Website formSubmissions through your embedded form.
ReferralIntroductions from existing customers or partners.
ExhibitionContacts collected at a specific event.
Email campaignResponses to a campaign send.
Cold outreachProspects your team approached directly.
Keep the list short and specific enough to act on. Marketing tells you nothing; Exhibition — trade show, March tells you whether that stand paid for itself.

Where sources are used

  • On the lead record, set at capture — see New Lead.
  • As a filter on the Leads List.
  • In Leads by Source on the CRM Overview, which is where the reporting value shows up.
