Item Quality Settings
Item quality settings are the switch that decides whether quality applies to an item at all, and what happens when it does. Nothing in the app runs until at least one settings row exists. A row can be written against a single item or a whole item category, so a category rule covers everything in it without a line per stock code.
Opens Lots On
Five independent switches decide which documents open an inspection lot for this item:
| Switch | Opens a lot when |
|---|---|
| Open lots on purchase receipts | A GRN is posted. |
| Open lots on production / job work | A production run or job work receipt is posted. |
| Open lots on location transfers | Stock moves between locations. |
| Open lots on deliveries (outgoing) | A customer delivery is posted. |
| Open lots on customer returns | A credit note brings goods back. |
With none ticked the row reads No lots — the item is registered but nothing is ever raised for it. That is a valid state, and the right one for an item you inspect only on request.
Sampling
The scheme and its numbers, summarised on the row as you set them:
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Scheme | 100% inspection, a fixed quantity, a percentage, or AQL. See Sampling. |
| Sample value | The quantity or the percentage, for those two schemes. |
| Inspection level | AQL only — General I, II, III or Special S-1 to S-4. |
| AQL major / AQL minor | AQL only — the acceptable quality limit for each defect class. Critical is always zero. |
Rules
| Rule | Effect |
|---|---|
| Block stock | Received goods are moved to the inspection location and cannot be used until the usage decision is taken. The row reads stock blocked. |
| Auto-accept on pass | A passing inspection takes the acceptance decision itself instead of leaving the lot awaiting one. Saves a step where a pass needs no human judgement. |
| SLA days | How long a lot has before it counts as overdue. The row reads due in N days. |
| Skip after | How many accepted lots in a row before skip-lot starts. |
| Skip every | While skipping, one in every N is still inspected. |
| Tighten lots | How many lots go to 100% inspection after a rejection. |
Item or category
Item / Category takes either. A row against a category applies to every item in it. Where both exist, the row written against the item itself is the one that applies — so a category can carry the house rule and a single difficult item can carry its own.
Retiring a row
Mark the row Inactive rather than deleting it. Lots and inspections already raised under it keep their history, and the rule stops applying to anything new.
Blocking stock needs an Inspection Location set in General settings. With the tick on and no location configured, there is nowhere to move the goods to and the block cannot take effect.
