Quality Control Settings
The General tab of Quality settings holds the handful of choices the whole app runs on: where blocked goods wait, whether overdue instruments are refused, who owns quality, how long things have before they are late, and whether decisions must be signed. Set these once before you register your first item.
Stock
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Inspection Location | Where goods of an item set to block stock wait for their usage decision. Received goods are moved here by a normal stock transfer when the document is posted, and the accepted quantity is moved back by the decision. |
| Quarantine Location | Where held stock is moved when someone quarantines a hold. It may be the same as the inspection location. |
Both default to Not used. Leaving the inspection location unset means the block stock rule on an item has nowhere to move goods to and cannot take effect.
Measuring Equipment
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Refuse gauges past their calibration date | An overdue gauge cannot be selected on an inspection. Off, the gauge is still usable and its overdue state is shown but not enforced. |
People and Due Times
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Quality Manager | Owns new NCRs, and hears about overdue lots nobody is assigned to and gauges coming due. |
| Default Inspector | Pre-filled as the inspector on a new inspection. |
| Days to Disposition an NCR | Sets the disposition due date on a new NCR, and what counts as overdue on the Overview. |
| Days to Close a CAPA | The same, for corrective and preventive actions. |
Neither day count may be negative.
Controls
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Raise an NCR when a lot is rejected or an inspection fails | Opens the non-conformance report automatically, linked to the inspection that caused it. |
| Electronic signature for decisions, dispositions and closures | The user re-enters their password to take a usage decision, disposition an NCR or close a CAPA; the audit trail marks the step as signed. |
Who can change them
Saving needs Inspection Plans and Settings permission. Someone without it sees the tab but is told they may not change the quality control settings.
Switch on automatic NCRs only once your defect catalog and inspection plans are settled. Turned on too early, every teething failure raises a report that somebody then has to cancel.
