Sightings

Sightings

Sightings records where tagged items have been seen. Every read that is not part of a count or a counter sale lands here, building a picture of where stock actually is rather than where the ledger says it should be.

Where to find it

What the list shows

ColumnDescription
Tag (EPC)The tag read.
What / Item / assetWhat it is mapped to.
WhereThe location, from the read point.
ReaderWhich reader saw it, with its antenna.
Arrived / Last readFirst and most recent read at that place.
ReadsHow many times.
SignalRead strength.
simulatedMarks anything produced in demonstration mode.
Repeat reads of a stationary tag are collapsed into one visit, using the window in Settings. Without it a pallet parked under an antenna would generate thousands of sightings a day and bury the movements that matter.

What to use it for

  • Finding an item nobody can locate — the last read is where it was.
  • Confirming goods actually passed the inbound door, not just the paperwork.
  • Spotting stock sitting in a staging area far longer than it should.

Sightings and stock

A sighting is an observation, not a transaction. It moves nothing and posts nothing — to turn reads into a stock adjustment, run a count.
