Tax (VAT/GST) Reports

Tax (VAT/GST) Reports

Tax reports produce the VAT and GST figures you file. They pull every taxable transaction in a period and total it by tax type, which is what turns a year of invoices and bills into the handful of numbers a return actually asks for.

Where to find them

Go to Reports > Tax Reports. Set the period on the right, then click Print.

Tax Report

Your tax records and totals for the period — output tax charged on sales, input tax paid on purchases, and the net position. This is the accrual-basis report, counting tax at the date of the invoice.

Tax Details (Cash Basis)

The same information on a cash basis, counting tax when payment moves rather than when the invoice is raised.

Which basis to use

Use whenYou file on an accrual basis.Your scheme accounts for tax on receipts and payments.
Effect of unpaid invoicesIncluded — you owe the tax before being paid.Excluded until the customer pays.
Use the basis your registration is actually on. The two reports will give different figures for the same period, and that difference is not an error — it is the whole distinction between the schemes.

Before you file

  • Confirm the period is closed to further entry, so figures cannot shift after you have filed.
  • Check the tax group on any customer or supplier added during the period.
  • Export to Excel if the portal wants a summary you have to reformat.
