Fixed Assets Import
The Fixed Assets import loads your asset register. The file format is the same as the Items and Services import, with one difference — a flag column marking each record as a fixed asset rather than a stocked item.
Where to find it
Go to Setup > Import Export > Fixed Assets.
Format Data
Use the fixed assets sample file. Its columns follow Items and Services Import — item code, description, category, unit, tax type and account overrides — plus the asset flag that distinguishes the two.
Because the format matches the items import, that page is the reference for the shared columns. Only the asset flag and the asset-specific accounts differ.
What to prepare
| Item | Why |
|---|---|
| Asset categories | Must exist before importing, so each asset lands in the right group. |
| Cost and acquisition date | The basis every depreciation calculation runs from. |
| Accumulated depreciation | Where assets are part-depreciated at cut-over, the position must come across or the net book value will be wrong. |
| Asset accounts | The asset, depreciation and disposal accounts from System and GL Setup. |
Errors and exports
If rows fail, the system returns your file with a Memo column added, naming the problem on each bad row — fix those rows and upload again. Every module supports export as well as import, so you can pull current data out in the same format.
The rules common to all imports — never rename headers, dates in Y/m/d, codes must already exist, test a few rows first — are set out in Importing Your Data.
