Item Tags

Item Tags

Item Tags maps an RFID tag to the item or asset it is attached to. Once mapped, a read at a reader becomes a sighting, a stock count line, or a piece on the sales counter — instead of an unrecognised number.

Where to find it

Go to EdgeBridge > Item Tags.

What a mapping holds

FieldDescription
Tag (EPC)The tag's unique code.
IsThe item or asset it is on.
GatewayWhich gateway it applies to, or any.
Bound / FreedWhether the tag is currently attached to a piece.
StatusActive or Disabled.

Bound and freed

A tag is bound while it is on a piece you hold and freed when that piece is sold — the invoice releases the tag so it can be reused. A tag showing awaiting tag write is allocated but not yet written to physical stock.

Freeing happens at the invoice, not at the counter. A piece on the counter pad is still yours until it is sold — which is why removing it from the pad sells nothing and frees no tag.

Mapping in bulk

Map many at once and Import from a spreadsheet both work here. Tagging is usually done a carton at a time, so the bulk route is the normal one.

What tag reads become

ContextThe read becomes
Normal operationA sighting — where the item was last seen.
A count is open for that locationA line on the count instead.
At the sales counterA piece on the counter, ready to sell.
At an access pointAn access punch, per the read point.
