Fixed Assets Overview
The Fixed Assets Overview is the register at a glance — how much you own, what it cost, how much has been depreciated away and what the net book value is today. It also carries quick actions for the things you do most: register an asset, move one, run depreciation, write one off.
Where to find it
Go to Fixed Assets > Overview. It is the first tab in the module.
The headline figures
| Figure | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Total Assets | How many active assets are on the register. |
| Original Cost | Total purchase value of everything you hold. |
| Accumulated depreciation | How much value has been written off to date. |
| Net Book Value | Current book value — cost after accumulated depreciation. The figure that appears on your balance sheet. |
| Added (Month) | Assets registered this month, with their purchase value. |
| Disposed (Month) | Assets written off or sold this month. |
| Asset Classes | How many distinct classes are in use. |
Net book value falling faster than assets are being replaced is the pattern to watch. It means the register is ageing — the equipment still appears on the balance sheet but is running out of useful life.
Asset Activity
Purchases, depreciation and disposals plotted over the last month, six months or year, so you can see whether the register is growing, holding steady or being run down.
