Dependents

Dependents

Dependents are the people covered under a member's policy — children, parents and extended family. Each is recorded against the member with their own relationship, benefit and contribution, within the limits the cover product allows.

Where to find it

Go to BurialPro > Dependents. Add one from New > Dependent — a member must be selected first.

ID / Birth CertTheir identification.

Cover limits

LimitWhat it controls
Max childrenHow many children one policy covers. Adding beyond it is refused.
Max parentsThe same for parents.
Max extended dependantsThe limit on extended family.
Child age limitThe age at which a child loses cover.

These are set in Rules and, where enforced per product, in Products.

Children age out automatically when the rule is on. Tell the member before it happens — a family discovering at a funeral that a child was no longer covered is the worst possible time to learn it.

Duplicate protection

A dependent already recorded on a policy is skipped rather than added twice, and the screen reports it as already on cover.

Adding and removing

Changes after joining go through an amendment so they are logged, approved and applied — rather than edited directly on a live policy.
