Sales e-Invoices

Sales e-Invoices

Sales e-Invoices lists your invoices and credit notes with their registration status, and is where you deal with anything that has not gone through. An invoice registered successfully comes back with an IRN and a signed QR code, which the ERP prints on the document.

The statuses

StatusMeans
PendingNot yet sent to the portal.
RegisteredAccepted. The IRN and QR code are on the invoice.
FailedRejected. The portal's reason is on the record.
CancelledRegistered and then cancelled with the portal.

Registering

Bulk GenerateA batch — a day's or a month's invoices at once.

Each successful registration costs one API call from your credit. Failed calls are not charged — see e-Invoice API credit.

Cancelling

An IRN can be cancelled with the portal within the window the rules allow. After that window the only correction is a credit note, which is itself registered.

A registered invoice exists as far as the portal is concerned. Editing it in the ERP does not change what was registered, which is why a correction after the cancellation window has to be a credit note and a fresh invoice.

The QR code

The signed QR code returned by the portal is printed on the invoice. It is what a tax officer or a customer scans to confirm the invoice is genuine, so it has to be on the printed document rather than only in the system.
