Download and Install the Gateway
The EdgeBridge Gateway is a small program that runs on one Windows PC at your site. It listens to your hardware — RFID readers, barcode scanners, weighing scales, attendance terminals — translates every reading into one common format, and delivers it to the ERP. Allow about 20 minutes.

What it does
Your devices each speak their own language and none of them can reach the ERP directly. The gateway sits in the middle. If your internet drops or the ERP is briefly unavailable, readings are held on the PC and delivered when the connection returns — nothing is lost and nothing needs re-scanning.
It makes outgoing connections only. There is no need to open router ports, arrange a fixed IP address or set up a VPN. An ordinary broadband line — even a phone hotspot — is enough.
Before you start
- A Windows PC that stays on during working hours, on the same network as your devices.
- Administrator rights on that PC. The installer needs them once.
- Your ERP address and company key — see Gateways for the key and Settings for the address. The key is shown only once, so copy it before you begin.
- For each device: its IP address and port, or its COM port if it is on a cable.
- The PC's clock set correctly — readings are stamped with the time this PC believes it is.
Nothing else needs installing first. No .NET, no database — everything is included.
1. Run the installer
Double-click the file and accept the Windows administrator prompt. It installs in under a minute, registers itself to start automatically with Windows, and allows itself through the Windows firewall so other PCs on your network can view the dashboard.
Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. This appears for any newly published program and does not indicate a problem.
2. Open the dashboard and create your sign-in
The dashboard opens at http://localhost:5080, and there is a Start Menu shortcut to it. The first time it opens it asks you to create a username and password.
Write that password down. It can only be reset from this PC itself — which is deliberate, since physical access to the machine is what proves you are allowed to reset it.
3. Connect to the ERP
- Go to Settings > ERP Connection.
- Enter your ERP address and paste the company key.
- Save, then Test connection.
A successful test reports Connected to <your company name>. Seeing your own company name is the confirmation that matters — it proves the key was accepted, not merely that the address exists.
Settings take effect immediately. There is nothing to restart.
4. Add your devices
Go to Device Setup. Each device runs in one of three modes.

Set the device to Live and fill in its address — an IP address and port for network devices, a COM port for cabled ones. For RFID readers also set the Reader ID: this is the name the ERP uses to know which reader saw a tag, so it must match the reader id on your Read Points. Then Save.
Devices reconnect on their own. A reader that is switched off, unplugged or rebooted is picked up again without anyone touching the PC.
5. Check that a real reading arrives
Scan a barcode, present an RFID tag, or place something on the scale, then watch two places on the Dashboard:

A reading that shows in Events but sticks in the Data Queue means the device is fine and the ERP connection is not. That single distinction tells you which side to look at, and removes most of the guesswork.
In the ERP, the same reading should now appear under Inbound and Events.
6. Leave it running
EdgeBridge runs as a Windows service. It starts with the PC before anyone signs in, and keeps running with the dashboard closed. Nobody needs to open it each morning. Close the browser tab when you are done — the dashboard is only a window onto something already running.
Updating
Install a newer version over the existing one on the same machine. It keeps its registration, so you do not need a new company key — and issuing one would stop the current installation working.
