Credit Notes List

The Sales Credit Note List displays every credit note in TamilAccounting, including customer credit notes and journal-entry based adjustments. Use it to filter, review and allocate credits against outstanding invoices, so customer balances reflect what is genuinely owed.

Where to find it

Go to Sales > Credit Notes.

Filters Section

FilterWhat it does
ReferenceFind a particular credit note by reference number.
CustomerView all credit notes for one customer, or choose All Customers.
Date RangeFilter between a From and To date.
SalesmanShow credit notes raised by or assigned to a specific salesperson.
BranchFilter by branch. Only visible when Use Branches Only is enabled in Setup > Preferences.
DepartmentFilter by department. Only visible when Use Branches and Department is enabled in Setup > Preferences.
Zero ValuesA checkbox to include or exclude transactions with zero value.

New Direct Credit Note

Next to the filters is the + New Direct Credit Note button, which opens the Customer Credit Note and Sales Return entry form.

Credit Note Table

ColumnDescription
TypeThe transaction type, such as Customer Credit Note.
InvoiceThe credit note reference. Click it to open the View Sales Credit Note page.
DateThe date the credit note was created.
CustomerThe customer name. Click it to open the customer detail page.
BranchThe branch the credit note was recorded under.

Credit Note Status

StatusMeaning
DraftSaved but not yet finalised.
CreditedFinalised, but not yet applied to any invoice.
Partially AllocatedPart of the credit has been applied to a customer invoice.
AllocatedThe full credit has been applied to one or more invoices.
A credit note sitting at Credited has reduced nothing yet. Until it is allocated, the customer still shows the original invoice as outstanding — see Allocations.

More Options

ActionWhat it does
AllocateLink the credit balance to one or more outstanding invoices, reducing the amount due.
PrintGenerate a copy of the credit note.
MailEmail the credit note to the customer's registered address.
GLOpen the General Ledger entries for this transaction.
EditUpdate the credit note details.
VoidCancel the transaction and reverse its impact on the customer ledger and the accounts.
