Read Points

Read Points

Read Points give a reader's antenna a meaning. The same RFID read is a stock movement in a warehouse doorway and an access punch at a staff entrance — the read point is what tells the ERP which it is.

Where to find it

Go to EdgeBridge > Read Points. Create one from New > Read Point.

What a read can mean

A read here means is the field that gives the point its purpose. Not every option is implemented yet.

OptionWhat happensStatus
Asset / tool trackingRecords where the item was seen — a sighting.Live
Door / accessAn employee card becomes an attendance punch.Live
Billing counterPieces put here are being sold — see Counter.Live
Ignore reads from hereNothing. Useful for a reader that overhears a neighbouring zone.Live
Receiving (dock-in)Recognised, not yet acted on.Not enabled
Dispatch (dock-out)Recognised, not yet acted on.Not enabled
Stock countRecognised, not yet acted on.Not enabled
A read at a not-yet-enabled intent still records a sighting and says which intent was parked. That wording is deliberate — it distinguishes "the ERP does not do this yet" from "my reader is broken", which otherwise look identical from the shop floor.

Minimum signal

An antenna at a doorway also sees tags on a nearby shelf, faintly. Raising the minimum signal keeps stray reads out, so a passing forklift does not register as stock arriving.

Tune the minimum signal on site with real stock, not from a desk. It is the difference between a doorway that reads what passes through it and one that reads half the warehouse.

Per antenna, not per reader

Because a read point can name an antenna, one reader can serve two meanings — antenna 1 over the inbound door, antenna 2 over the outbound. Set them as separate read points rather than one covering the reader.
