Journal Inquiry

Journal Inquiry

Journal Inquiry finds manual journal entries. Where GL Inquiry shows everything that hit an account, this narrows to journals specifically — the entries someone wrote directly rather than ones produced by a sales or purchase document.

Where to find it

Go to Financial Statement > General Ledger > Journal Inquiry.

Filters

FilterWhat it does

From Date / To DateThe period to search.
UserWho created the entry — useful when reviewing a period's manual adjustments.

Click Search to run the query, then click any reference to open the entry.

Actions

ActionWhat it does
View GLOpens the ledger postings the journal produced.
Edit JournalModify the entry, where the period is still open.
Delete JournalRemove the entry, subject to permissions and period status.
Filtering by User over a month is a useful control. Manual journals bypass the checks built into transactional documents, so knowing who is posting them — and how many — is worth reviewing periodically.
