Quality in the Rest of the ERP

Quality in the Rest of the ERP

Quality Control has its own page, but most quality work happens where the document is. Rather than making people leave a receipt to record what they found on it, the app adds an Inspect action and an Inspections tab to the documents it covers, and a scoped list to Purchases and Manufacturing. This page is the map of where it turns up.

The Inspect action

An Inspect action appears on the view of any document Quality Control covers:

DocumentWhere the action is
Purchase receipt (GRN)The receipt's view.
Production run / job work receiptThe run's view. Not offered on a draft run — there is nothing produced to inspect yet.
Inventory transferThe transfer's view.
Customer deliveryThe delivery's view.
Credit noteThe credit note's view, for goods coming back.

It opens the inspection form in a popup with the document, line and item already filled. The action is hidden when the document is voided, still a draft, or has no lines — and from users without permission to inspect that kind of document.

The Inspections tab

The same documents gain an Inspections tab showing, in order:

On a production run the tab also states the run's own rejected quantity next to the quantity failed at inspection, because the two are easily confused. The rejected quantity is what production drew extra material for. A failure found after the run is dealt with through its quality hold — quality never writes back to the run.

Purchases → Incoming QC

A tab on the Purchases page listing inspections of purchase receipts for a date range. Inspect from the receipt's own view, or from Awaiting Inspection on the Quality page. Guarded by Quality Inspections together with the GRN area, so a purchasing user who can already see receipts can use it.

Manufacturing → Quality

The same tab for production runs and job work receipts. Every inspection, the quality holds and what is waiting to be inspected are on the Quality page; this tab is the production-side view of them.

Sales → Certificate of Analysis

A customer delivery that has been inspected carries a Certificate of Analysis action on its view, printing each check with its specification, result and conformity for the customer. It appears only where an inspection exists and the user can see both the delivery and quality records.

Permissions in short

AreaGrants
Quality InspectionsRecording inspections.
Quality HoldsActing on held stock.
Usage Decisions and DispositionsDeciding lots and dispositioning NCRs.
Non-Conformance ReportsRaising and running NCRs.
Corrective and Preventive ActionsRunning CAPAs.
Gauges and CalibrationThe equipment register.

Quality ReportsSPC, supplier scorecards and the six reports.
Each area is paired with the core area that already guarded the same thing, so roles set up before Quality Control was installed keep working. A user who could already receive goods can inspect them without a role change; the separate grants matter when you want to split inspecting from deciding.
