Payment Gateways
Payment Gateways connect your website to the systems that actually take money from customers. Each gateway has its own credentials, its own test mode and its own currency restrictions, so configuring one is a matter of matching the gateway's requirements to the currencies you sell in.
Where to find it
Go to Company > Payment Gateways.
How gateways are handled
| Point | What it means |
|---|---|
| Currency restriction | Gateways are restricted by currency. A gateway that does not support the currency you are selling in will not be offered. |
| Credentials | Each gateway uses its own credential types — keys, merchant identifiers, secrets — as its provider specifies. |
| Test mode | Each has its own testing method. Test before going live. |
| Enable / disable | A gateway can be switched on or off without losing its configuration. |
Setting one up
- Get your credentials from the gateway provider.
- Enter them here.
- Run the gateway's test method and put a test payment through end to end.
- Enable it for live use.
Test with a real card in the gateway's sandbox, not just by saving the credentials. A gateway that accepts its keys can still fail at the notification step, and the first you would know is a customer whose payment vanished.
Choosing a gateway
Pick for the currencies and countries you actually sell into, and for how quickly the provider settles. New gateways are added over time — if the one your market expects is missing, ask.
If a payment does not complete
Payments that leave the customer's account but never reach the ERP are traced from Gateway Payments.
