Opportunities List

Opportunities List

The Opportunities tab tracks potential deals at their earliest stage. An opportunity is a qualified lead or a specific sales goal against a customer — earlier and less committed than a proposal, and the raw material your sales forecast is built from.

Where to find it

Open a customer and select the Opportunities tab.

Field Definitions for the Opportunities List

ColumnDescription
OpportunityThe deal name.
ValueThe expected amount, which is what pipeline totals are built from.
StageWhere it sits in the funnel.
Expected CloseThe forecast close date.
Assigned ToWho owns the deal.
StatusOpen, won or lost.

Managing Your Sales Funnel

Read the funnel by stage and value together. Several early-stage opportunities are healthier than one large deal sitting at the same stage for months — the second is a stalled pipeline, however good the number looks.

Close opportunities honestly, as won or lost. A funnel where nothing is ever marked lost inflates the forecast and stops anyone learning why deals fail.
