Financial Statement

Financial Statement

Financial Statement holds the three reports that tell you how the business actually did — profit and loss, trial balance and balance sheet. Unlike the printed versions, these are drill-down views: every figure on screen opens into the accounts and transactions behind it.

The three statements

StatementAnswers
Profit and LossDid we make money over this period?
Balance SheetWhat do we own and owe as at this date?
Trial BalanceDo the books balance, and where is each figure coming from?

Drill-down or printed report

Drill-downYes — click through to the transactions.No.
Use the drill-down to find out why a number is what it is, then print the report version once you are satisfied it is right. Investigating from a PDF means going back to the screen anyway.

Common filters

All three views share the same filters, so a question can be asked of each in turn:

  • Date or date range — the period being reported.
  • Branch and Department — narrows to one part of the business, where dimensions are in use.
