Sales discounts in Line items, and grand total discount. it can be percentage or amount, sometimes both together. it depends on the needs from the customer. The Discount is often used to encourage the customer to buy more from us. And the discount can be varied based on the mode and area of offering, Let's check some types of discounts available in our TamilAccounting sales.

Grand Discount in Percentage
This helps you to apply discount after the tax by the sub total of the invoice. It helps to add discount by common offers like 5% Flat discount or 25% Total Discount, It helps really in the super markets and retails shops to promote their sales with it. From Sales invoice you can input this at the bottom fo the percentage with sub total.
Grand Discount in Amount
Generally this type of discounts applied from the Restaurants, Hotel, And Service sectors. like a customized services like Vehicle Repairs, Salons, Spa, Gyms, Custom courses, etc. Most of the time this kind of discounts used to round the values like it if goes 1005, Than you will apply 5 as discount and round the total to 1000.
Line Discount in Percentage
Each specific Products get specific discount like some limited edition products or some new products launched with some range of discount to attract customers. By meaning you can apply product and line specific discount in percentage for certain items.
Line Discount in Amount
Sometimes flat discount in amount for certain products such as mobiles, laptops, electronics, of-course other some seasonal products this kind of discount, it helps to promote specific product.
With help of TamilAccounting you can perform all these 4 types of discount in our system. By default the system gets the Grand discount in percentage, and amount. The line discount in Percentage. If you wish to try the discount in amount, you need to change this from Setup->Preferences -> Use Amount Discount in Sales Line Discount.
And also there is an add-on with us named as Coupon discount, This add-on helps you to create promotional grand discounts and apply it and also get a list of applied discounts. along with its coupon code.
